Turo Vehicle Inspections

All vehicles listed on Turo in the US, including Florida, must pass an annual safety inspection conducted by a qualified mechanic. The inspection ensures the vehicle meets Turo's safety standards.

Hosts must download the Turo inspection checklist, have it completed by the mechanic, and submit a photo or PDF of the form via the Turo app.

The inspection must be performed by a qualified mechanic, but they are not required to be ASE-certified. However, vehicles that fall below a 30% 5-star maintenance rating and need to be relisted must pass an inspection by an ASE-certified mechanic.

Who Performs the Inspection?

All inspections are completed by a qualified licensed technician, as required by Uber, Lyft, Turo, and most insurers. We follow state guidelines to ensure your vehicle meets all safety standards.

In-Depth Multi-Point & Pre-Purchase
Vehicle Inspections

Depending on the age of a vehicle, its condition, and when it was last serviced, it may be advisable to conduct a multi-point inspection to assess its general state before deciding to invest in repairs.

In addition, a pre-purchase vehicle inspection is a thorough assessment performed before buying a used car or truck to identify existing issues or hidden problems. It covers key components like the engine, electrical systems, suspension, brakes, and overall condition.

Pre-purchase inspections are based on a visual and auditory assessment of the vehicle's condition.

Except for wheels when necessary during brake evaluations and a few other minor items, such as filter covers and dipsticks, technicians do not dismantle or remove vehicle parts during an inspection.

Pre-purchase inspections do not guarantee a vehicle's value or suitability for purchase, and they are not a warranty or insurance policy.

This inspection is intended to help buyers make informed decisions, avoid unexpected repair costs, and assess whether the vehicle is safe and reasonably priced.

Leased Vehicle Inspections

Leased vehicle inspections are performed near the end of a lease term to evaluate the vehicle's overall condition before it is returned to the leasing company. These lease return inspections focus on identifying excess wear, damage, missing equipment, warning indicators, and mechanical concerns that may result in end-of-lease charges. Because lease agreements define acceptable versus chargeable wear, a structured inspection before turn-in allows issues to be addressed proactively rather than after penalties are assessed.

At Speedy Pit Stop, leased vehicle inspections include a comprehensive exterior and interior evaluation. We examine body panels for dents, scratches, paint defects, and prior repair quality. Wheels and tires are inspected for curb damage, uneven wear, and tread depth compliance. Interior components are checked for upholstery damage, cracks, stains, missing trim pieces, and functionality of controls and electronics. We also verify that warning lights are not illuminated and that all required accessories, keys, floor mats, and cargo covers are present.

Mechanical systems are reviewed to ensure the vehicle meets lease return standards. This includes scanning for stored diagnostic codes, checking brake wear, suspension condition, fluid levels, battery health, and verifying that required maintenance has been performed. If corrective work is recommended, we outline options so the vehicle can be restored to acceptable condition before formal lease inspection.

The goal of a pre-return leased vehicle inspection is to reduce unexpected charges and provide clarity. By identifying concerns early, repairs can be completed in a controlled and cost-effective manner. Speedy Pit Stop provides this service with detailed documentation so you can approach lease return with confidence and a clear understanding of your vehicle's status.
